Runner Up, Amnesty International Young Human Rights Reporter of the Year competition 2012

-My entry discussed the use of taser guns by the police force, as I expressed my concern at the widespread use of the potentially lethal weapons. On Monday 13th February 2012 the death toll by taser in America reached 500, and I read in shock the story of Roger Anthony, killed by taser when he ignored orders by the police to stop his bicycle. Why did he ignore them? He had a disability and hearing problems - killed for not hearing the order. My question, 'Why should we allow this form of unjustified killing?' was enough for my entry to the competition to be shortlisted into the top three of over 3000 entrants nationally, and won me a week's work experience with SecEd.

Report on Amnesty Competition 2012 published on Amnesty website and in The Coventry Telegraph

-Immediately after the ceremony in 2012, I sent Amnesty a write-up of the day, saying how much I had enjoyed myself and detailing my entry for the competition. I also included a call to other young people to get involved with the competition in the future. This was published at the time by Amnesty on their website, and also in the 'Your Life' section of my local newspaper, The Coventry Telegraph.
